Two Arrested After Bellevue Armed Robbery, Pursuit

Last night at 10:37 p.m., Bellevue Police Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Crossroads Park parking lot, located in the 900 block of 164th Ave NE.

The victim called 911 and advised dispatchers that two suspects displayed a firearm and stole cash from him.

Moments after the initial 911 call, a Bellevue Police Officer arrived in the area and saw a vehicle occupied by two subjects matching the description of those involved in the robbery flee from the area in a reckless manner. The Officer attempted to stop the vehicle, which sped away, and a pursuit was initiated.  Officers soon learned that the vehicle had been reported as stolen.

Two suspects were arrested last night after they allegedly committed an armed robbery and then fled from police in this stolen Honda.

Bellevue Police, assisted by Officers from the Kirkland Police Department, pursued the vehicle throughout Bellevue, Redmond, and Kirkland.

A Bellevue Police Officer was able to successfully deploy spike strips near the intersection of 140th Avenue and Bel Red Road, causing the tires of the suspect vehicle to deflate.  The suspect vehicle continued to drive on the vehicle’s rims in his attempt to flee.

The pursuit then continued onto Eastbound SR 520 into Redmond.  A Washington State Patrol trooper joined the pursuit and was able to deploy a pursuit intervention tactic, or PIT maneuver, to stop the stolen vehicle near the intersection of 106th and Avondale Road.  The maneuver caused the suspect vehicle rolled over and come to a stop. Officers successfully took the two suspects into custody.  Both suspects were treated at the scene by medics and later interviewed by Bellevue Detectives and booked into jail on several felony charges.

The primary suspect, a 23-year-old male, had a felony warrant out for his arrest as well.  The suspect vehicle was towed back to the Bellevue Police station pending a search warrant to locate the involved firearm.

As is the case with any police pursuit involving Bellevue Police Officers, the Bellevue Police Department will conduct a thorough review to ensure that this pursuit complied with all applicable Bellevue Police Department policies.
