Bellevue Police arrest suspect for voyeurism, warns public of possible additional victims

The Bellevue Police Department arrested 25-year-old Yunus Nuru for allegedly following and inappropriately filming juvenile females while they were out shopping in Factoria.

On the evening of June 6, Bellevue Officers received reports of a male (Nuru) filming several underage females inappropriately without their knowledge or consent. A loss prevention specialist from a local business subsequently provided officers evidence from that evening confirming the incident. The evidence collected suggests some victims appeared to be as young as six.

Victims’ statements provided investigators the information needed to identify and connect Yunus Nuru to the incident. The investigation continued until Tuesday, June 16 where at approximately 1:09 p.m., Bellevue Police conducted an operation at the 3500 block of South 249th Place in Kent. Assisted by the Kent Police Department, detectives were able to arrest Nuru for the following crimes:

Voyeurism – 1st Degree, Two Counts

Nuru was processed at the Bellevue Police Department and later booked into the King County Jail. However, the investigation into this case is still ongoing. Due to the evidence obtained by the investigation, law enforcement determined Nuru may be associated with similar crimes and additional victims may exist in Bellevue or across the region.

If a community member believes they were a victim of Yunus Nuru or has information about someone who may be a victim, they are encouraged to contact the Bellevue Police Department at either bellevuepd@bellevuewa.gov or calling the department’s non-emergency line at 425-577-5656.
