Bellevue Police and Fire investigators continue to look into the cause of a suspicious fire that damaged a vacant mosque in Bellevue Wednesday afternoon, March 22. Around 4:27 p.m. yesterday, Bellevue Police and Fire responded to a report of a fire at the Islamic Center of Eastside, located at 14700 Main Street in Bellevue. The building had previously been damaged by an arson on Jan.14, 2017, and was vacant and without power or natural gas.

Firefighters extinguished the flames and got the fire under control quickly. Bellevue Police investigators, assisted by investigators with the Bellevue Fire Department, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, , Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as well as the Federal Bureau of Investigation are working collaboratively to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
Bellevue Police are asking for the public’s assistance in this investigation. Anyone with video of the fire scene is requested to send that information to the Bellevue Police Department at PDTipline@bellevuewa.gov.

Good luck in finding the perpetrator! When I worked at BPD in staff support there was a swastika that was burned into the grass at Glendale Golf Course… I wish this type of hate crime did not exist.
