On Wednesday, Oct. 3, the Bellevue Police will again be hosting “Coffee with a Cop” – an event designed to improve trust and build relationships between the Police Department and community. The event will be held at two locations and times:
9-11 a.m.
Starbucks store located at 1350 156th Ave. NE in the Crossroads Neighborhood
1-3 p.m. Woods Coffee store located at 625 116th Ave. NE
At “Coffee with a Cop”, there’s no planned speaking program, just an opportunity to ask questions, voice concerns, and get to know the officers that work in your neighborhood!
“Coffee with aCop” was launched in Hawthorne, California in 2011 when officers from the were looking for ways to better engage with the residents they served each day.
“Coffee with a Cop” events are now held in all 50 states. They continue to be one of the most successful community outreach policing programs in the country. The program has also expanded to outside the Unites States to Canada, Europe, Australia, Africa and Latin America. The key to “Coffee with a Cop’s” ongoing success is that it opens the door for interactions outside of the crisis situations, wherelaw enforcement officers and community members typically meet.
