A Bellevue police officer was forced to jump out of the way of a moving vehicle following a traffic stop Sunday evening in the 400 block 120th Ave NE. After being pulled over, the driver pulled a U-Turn and intentionally drove at the officer. Luckily, he was able to get out of the way safely.
The driver then fled the scene and was spotted southbound on I-405. Bellevue police attempted a stop, but the suspect sped off, driving recklessly, and Bellevue police terminated the pursuit. The driver exited at Exit 5 in Renton and crashed into a vehicle that was stopped at a stoplight.
The driver and passenger then took off on foot and were apprehended a short time later. Luckily, there were no injuries to the driver hit by the fleeing suspects.
The driver was arrested on investigation of Assault 2, Eluding, Hit and Run Attended. The passenger was arrested on investigation of Obstructing, Drugs, Paraphernalia, and a $35,000 residential burglary warrant. Renton PD assisted with the collision investigation.
