Jacked-up car can’t flee, dangerous felony suspect arrested

Responding to a theft report, a Bellevue police officer located and arrested a 23-year-old Tacoma man on seven felony warrants early Tuesday (12/14/2021). The suspect is accused of stealing tires off a black Dodge Challenger from a dealership lot, then driving across the street and attempting to put the tires on the red Dodge Challenger that he was driving.

When the first officer arrived, the suspect dove into the car and attempted to flee, but since he put the car up on jacks to swap out the tires, the car wouldn’t go anywhere. After he was arrested, officers located a stolen firearm that was loaded with a round in the chamber. He was booked into jail.

Loaded weapon recovered

“This is outstanding work by our patrol officers. Following up on a routine theft report, they were able to get this dangerous suspect off the streets,” stated Major Mark Tarantino. “This should send a clear message to anyone wanting to commit crimes in Bellevue. We will respond, and we will investigate all crimes in our city. Our officers are well-trained investigators and exhaust all measures to solve these cases and hold those responsible accountable.”

Additional charges are pending.
