At 10:18 a.m. Wednesday, Bellevue police officers responded to a domestic disturbance involving a known wanted suspect. During the 911 call, the female caller whispered an address into the phone and left the line open; dispatchers heard screams in the background. The 25-year-old victim says her ex-boyfriend entered her apartment, broke down her bathroom door, and assaulted her. He was attempting to kidnap her when she was able to escape and run into the apartment complex office. The 24-year-old suspect then jumped into his car and drove his vehicle into the front of the building where she was hiding.
When Bellevue officers arrived on the scene, the suspect took off in his vehicle. Officers gave chase as the suspect got onto southbound I-405 when Washington State Patrol troopers assisted. At times the suspect was driving over 80 mph. The suspect left I-405, driving erratically through Renton and into Seattle. Seattle Police was eventually able to stop and arrest the suspect, but not before he attempted a carjacking.
Detectives are investigating the domestic violence assault, attempted kidnapping and attempted murder at the apartment complex in the 1300 Blk 145 Pl SE. The victim sustained minor injuries. The suspect was taken to the hospital to be cleared before being booked into jail.
