Detectives have arrested an 18-year-old Renton man in connection with the fatal shooting in the parking lot adjacent to the Factoria cinemas. About 8:30 PM Wednesday, officers responded to the Factoria AMC cinemas for a report of someone being shot. When crews arrived, they found a teenaged male who had been shot in the chest with a shotgun. Officers immediately began life-saving efforts. Bellevue Fire crews took over and transported the victim to Harborview Medical center, where he unfortunately died.
The suspect was seen on surveillance fleeing the scene in a silver sedan. Detectives followed leads throughout the night. Early Thursday, they developed information that the suspect was possibly in Renton. When detectives arrived at the Renton home, they located the silver car and saw the suspect. He was taken into custody without incident.
The victim and the suspect knew each other, but the exact nature of their relationship and the motive for the shooting are unknown. The King County Medical Examiner is working to positively identify the victim. The investigation is ongoing.
