The caller witnessed an argument between a painter and a residence at the apartment complex. A screwdriver and knife were brandished. The security manager advised that he had interviewed the suspect over the phone, and he appeared to be detached and sounded like he possibly was experiencing mental health issues. The officer took a case report for documentation.

Upon realizing that the police were on scene, officers observed both suspects into the apartment together and would not comply with the officer’s commands to exit. An independent witness on scene identified both suspects as sharing a child in common. Officers learned that one suspect was the respondent in a no-contact order with the other suspect listed as the protected person. Following negotiations, one of the suspects exited the residence, was arrested and booked into jail. The other suspect had a young child in the home and was advised she would be summoned in the mail with a court date and released at the scene. |
