NARRATIVE
The victim was driving through the parking lot, looking for a place to sleep. While driving, the victim fell asleep at the wheel, drove over a planter, and struck the suspect’s vehicle in a parking stall. The suspect was in his vehicle sleeping and was awakened by the collision. The suspect exited his vehicle, approached the victim’s vehicle, and started to punch the victim in the face while he was still seated in his car. The victim grabbed his handgun from the glove box, which made the suspect back off until police arrived. It is noted, the victim claimed he grabbed his handgun because the suspect was hitting him, and the suspect claimed he punched the victim because he saw the victim going for a handgun. Either way, the victim’s face was very bloody, and he was taken to the hospital for a fractured orbital socket. Both the victim and suspect were cooperative with police and claimed they did not know each other. Additionally, the nearby independent reporting party corroborated the events of the incident. The handgun was entered into the property room since it did not have a serial number (blank, not scratched off). The victim did not want to press charges against the suspect. An assault report and collision report was taken to document the incident. |
