Bellevue, WA – Yesterday, Bellevue Police Detectives on the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested a Carnation man for possession of child pornography after an investigation revealed he had possessed child sex imagery. In March of this year, Bellevue Detectives received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding an internet user in possession of child sex imagery. Bellevue Police launched an investigation, and subsequently learned that the suspect, a 22-year-old Carnation resident, was employed by the Bellevue School District as a para-professional. Bellevue Police immediately notified the school district and the man was placed on leave during the subsequent investigation. A search warrant conducted by Bellevue Police investigators, along with investigators from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Seattle Police Department at the suspect’s residence in Carnation revealed that the suspect allegedly possessed numerous additional child sex images on various electronic devices. On June 24th, the suspect turned himself in to police and was arrested for one count of depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct second degree. The suspect is not being named at this time as he has not yet been charged with any crime.
Bellevue Chief of police Steve Mylett commented: “I am proud of the work of the investigators involved in this case, and grateful to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for their commitment to end the trafficking of child sex imagery.” Mylett continued: “The young victims of these crimes are victimized every time these disturbing images are shared online, and we remain committed to ending these types of crimes.”

Detectives arrested a 31-year-old Renton man accused of supplying fentanyl-laced drugs to a 26-year-old Bellevue woman. The woman was discovered deceased in her Bellevue apartment on June 18, 2020.
Lab results showed the small number of blue M30 Oxycodone pills next to her bed were fentanyl; there wasn’t any oxycodone in the pills. The King County Medical Examiner listed the victim’s cause of death as acute combined drug intoxication, including fentanyl and alcohol.
“These are challenging cases to prove, but our detectives are meticulous and determined,” commented Assistant Chief Wendell Shirley. “They were able to connect the drugs that killed the victim to the alleged dealer and show that he knew they were not legitimate prescription drugs, despite telling the victim they were.”
Detectives arrested the 31-year-old late Wednesday, June 9, 2021, in Renton, and the judge set his bail at $500,000. “We want to send a clear message that we will pursue every lead and use every tool available to track down those selling these dangerous and illegal drugs and hold them accountable,” added Shirley. This is the second suspect in Bellevue to be charged with Substance Abuse Homicide this year.
Officials are seeing an alarming increase in fentanyl in our communities. The drug is 50-times more addictive than heroin and can be lethal in minuscule amounts. In the past five years, King County has seen a nearly 650% increase in fentanyl-related deaths. In Bellevue, there were eight fentanyl-related deaths in 2020 and eight already in 2021.
Public health officials encourage anyone who knows or suspects someone may be using to have naloxone (Narcan) on hand. It’s available at most pharmacies. For more information about fentanyl, visit Public Health – Seattle & King County.

The victim was driving through the parking lot, looking for a place to sleep. While driving, the victim fell asleep at the wheel, drove over a planter, and struck the suspect’s vehicle in a parking stall. The suspect was in his vehicle sleeping and was awakened by the collision. The suspect exited his vehicle, approached the victim’s vehicle, and started to punch the victim in the face while he was still seated in his car. The victim grabbed his handgun from the glove box, which made the suspect back off until police arrived. It is noted, the victim claimed he grabbed his handgun because the suspect was hitting him, and the suspect claimed he punched the victim because he saw the victim going for a handgun. Either way, the victim’s face was very bloody, and he was taken to the hospital for a fractured orbital socket. Both the victim and suspect were cooperative with police and claimed they did not know each other. Additionally, the nearby independent reporting party corroborated the events of the incident. The handgun was entered into the property room since it did not have a serial number (blank, not scratched off). The victim did not want to press charges against the suspect. An assault report and collision report was taken to document the incident.

NARRATIVE
This call was initially dispatched as a robbery when a subject reported he had been robbed by a masked subject with a gun. The subject said his phone and wallet were taken by an unknown male. The subject followed the unknown male into Renton and dialed 911 from the unknown male’s cell phone, which somehow was left in his vehicle. The subject eventually admitted he had gone to Goldsmith Park to sell drugs to a known associate (the unknown male). While speaking with the subject, the other male called his cell phone that was left behind and told the investigating officer that he had been robbed by the first subject. Neither man wanted to press charges.
