Hit & Run

East Link Railyard

A subject crashed into an electric pole inside the East Link Railyard.  After his vehicle became disabled from the collision, he decided to flee on foot.  An officer stopped the subject as he ran eastbound towards 120^th Ave NE.  The subject fled by jumping over a fence with barbwire lining the top.  The subject was later located, arrested, and received treatment at the hospital for cuts from the barbed wire fence.  He was booked into jail for Hit & Run, Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Driving With License Suspended.

Additionally, an inventory search of the vehicle was conducted prior to locating the subject.  A firearm and suspected drug paraphernalia were seen in the vehicle.  The vehicle was seized and transported to the station for the application of a search warrant.  Felony charges could be pending depending on the outcome of the search warrant.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on a subject for driving in dark & heavy rain without headlights and a rear bumper dangling from the vehicle.  Upon contact, the officer had reasonable suspicion for DUI and ordered the suspect to exit the vehicle to further investigate safely. The suspect refused to exit the vehicle or talk and initially would not comply until officers opened the door. The subject got out of the vehicle without a use of force. After further investigation, the subject was arrested and released at the scene.  He will be summoned for obstruction, and a citation was issued for traffic infractions.

Officers were requested to serve an Extreme Risk Protection Order to a subject who had threatened staff at a hospital in Seattle.  After researching the subject to mitigate everyone’s safety risk, the order was served.  During the contact, the subject disclosed the location of numerous magazines, ammunition, firearm accessories, and partially built firearms.  The items were seized without incident, and the order was served.

A suspect was causing a scene and loitering at the above location, attempting to sell gift cards to customers.  The suspect refused to leave.  An officer arrived on scene and told the suspect to leave and trespassed him.  The suspect said he would return after police left.  The officer responded to another call, and when he returned, the suspect was back on the property trying to sell gift cards. The suspect then failed to initially comply when contacted, which resulted in an obstructing charge.  The suspect was arrested, interviewed, and released via summons.  Charges were filed.

A victim called to report that her boyfriend had discharged his firearm in the house.  The female and 17-year-old daughter hid in the residence, then fled when police arrived. The victim was uncooperative and left the scene when told not to.  She was intoxicated and gave false information regarding the incident. The male party was compliant and sober.  It was determined that after an argument earlier, the male was going to leave for the night and went to retrieve his firearm from the safe when he accidentally discharged it into the safe wall, which contained the round. The female was released at the scene and will be summoned.  The male left for the night, and the daughter stayed with a friend.

Officers initially responded to the area after security at the location called to report a suspicious male.  The unknown male was shirtless and was acting erratically.  Officers arrived on scene, briefly saw the male, and then lost sight of him.  While conducting an area check, officers were notified by NORCOM the male had just stolen a woman’s cell phone from her purse and was last seen running south through the parking lot.  Officers arrived quickly, but the suspect had fled and could not be located by assisting units.

While officers were investigating the incident listed above, they were notified of a recently stolen vehicle nearby.  Officers responded and learned the victim had left their vehicle running in the driveway to warm up.  When the victim returned, their vehicle was gone.  This residence was located in the proximity and general direction of where the suspect mentioned above was last seen running.  Security video from the residence was located.  Officers are investigating if the suspects are the same. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded to a call from the manager about a male (suspect) who was refusing to leave.  Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect had been asked to leave numerous times by employees and refused.  The suspect had subsequently locked himself in a bathroom.  Officers attempted contact with the suspect and gave him numerous warnings to leave.  After approximately 30 minutes, officers entered the bathroom and arrested the suspect without incident.  Based on the strong likelihood of reoccurrence, the suspect was transported to jail and booked for the offense.

The victim expressed remorse for hitting the suspect so hard and declined to pursue charges.

The suspect entered the store and collected over 100 items valued at $2,885.63 into a reusable tote and exited the store without paying. The victim working as a loss prevention officer contacted the suspect who became noncompliant to verbal commands.  The victim attempted to escort the suspect towards the loss prevention office, and a struggle ensued, during which the suspect bent the victim’s finger to the back of his hand and took away his handcuffs. The suspect became complaint when police arrived.  He was arrested and booked into jail.

The reporting party was driving along NE 8^th St when she saw vehicles driving around a 2-year-old child that was wandering in the roadway. The driver stopped and picked up the child and relocated to a nearby story to call 911.  Officers responded and learned the child might live in a nearby complex.  Officers checked the apartment, which had an open garage door, but no answer.  A short time later, the father appeared and said he had left the 2-year-old with their 14-year-old daughter while he was getting an oil change.

A caller reported being pistol-whipped inside her friend’s apartment by a man. The suspect also assaulted the victim’s friend. The victim left the apartment with her friend’s phone to call the police. The friend stayed behind. Officers learned the suspect and the friend are in a dating relationship. The victim did not know if her friend and the suspect were still in the apartment. Containment was set on the apartment, and there was no sign of movement inside. Negative contact by phone; no answer to PA hailing. The victim’s friend, the victim of the DV Assault, showed up and tried to walk through the perimeter to get to her apartment. She confirmed to investigating officers that something happened in the apartment, but she could not remember what that was. She had no visible injuries. Officer found her vehicle parked in the adjacent complex parking lot. The engine compartment was warm to the touch. The DV victim denied her boyfriend was involved in the incident, instead identifying another male. The DV victim offered up her front door keys and gave consent to clear the apartment. The apartment was clear.  The investigation is ongoing.

The victim’s mother stated that she did not know where her daughter or ex-boyfriend was going this evening. Neither the victim nor the suspect had a cell phone for contact. The district officer is investigating.

An officer took a call for service by phone regarding a male who identified himself as Bellevue Police Lieutenant to the victim. He advised her that he was calling to verify her personal information such as her name, date of birth, and social security number. He told her that she had a warrant out for her arrest. He also advised her that if she refused to provide the listed information, he would send his deputies to arrest her. The victim didn’t provide him with any of the information and immediately called the police since she believed the caller was attempting to commit fraud. The real BPD officer documented the incident in a case report and is investigating the matter.

Loss prevention reported a man punching a woman in the face. Officers located the vehicle and followed as in meandered through Factoria. The vehicle, a rental, finally pulled over in a parking lot off SE 41^st Ln. A male and female were detained via a high-risk vehicle stop. After a preliminary investigation, the officer arrested the male for Assault 1 against the loss prevention officer, DV Assault 4 against the woman in the pickup, and Drug Possession with Intent to Deliver. The female was arrested on the Drug Possession with intent to deliver charge. The Drug charge was based on the number of pills and three large wads of cash seen in the cab. The pickup was impounded pending a search warrant. Both subjects were booked into jail.

Officers responded to investigate a domestic disturbance between a boyfriend and girlfriend.  The boyfriend had already left when the police arrived. The investigation showed the suspect boyfriend assaulted and harassed the victim during a verbal argument. Officers made one contact with the suspect via phone, but the suspect refused to cooperate. Charges are pending for the suspect. Also, the suspect has an active DV warrant for Lynnwood PD.

An officer responded to an assist call at the mall.  The reporting party called in after tracking his stolen iPad to the location and was confronting a male who was near the ping.  The officer arrived on scene to find the two men in an argument.  The officer intervened and attempted numerous times to deescalate the situation, but the male became irate and began challenging the officer to a fight.  The suspect taken into custody on several domestic violence warrants and charges will be sent to the prosecutor for review for the male’s actions towards the officer. No iPad was ever located.

Officers were at a store conducting a direct patrol when they came upon a 2006 black Honda running, parked sideways in a handicap stall, without a placard or license plates. Nobody was inside. Further investigation found a suspect standing by the doors of the store intently watching the officers but stated it wasn’t his car. Inside the car were spider wrapped items, tools, suspected drugs and paraphernalia, and a phone. As the vehicle was being towed, the suspect approached the officers and admitted he was the “passenger” of the car and wanted his cell phone. The registered owner was not located. KCSO told officers that the registered owner was well known to them and heavily into organized retail theft and drugs. The vehicle is at the station, awaiting a search warrant.
