At 7:30 pm Saturday, July 11, Bellevue police and fire responded to reports of shots fire and a possible stabbing in the 900 block 11th Ave NE. Responding officers found one deceased, two critically injured, and one in serious condition. Despite lifesaving efforts, one of the critically injured died at the scene, the other two were transported to the hospital.
According to detectives, this does not appear to be a random act and all involved parties appear to be associated with each other. There is no ongoing danger to the community.
Bellevue police investigators will be at the scene most of the evening. Please avoid the area near 112th Ave NE between NE 8th and NE 10th Street.
Redmond police arrested an off-duty Bellevue Police officer Thursday morning during a domestic disturbance involving a family member. The 48-year-old officer was booked into jail for suspected crimes related to the domestic disturbance.
The officer, who has been with BPD for three years, has been placed on administrative leave pending the criminal investigation by the Redmond Police Department. Additionally, the Bellevue Police Department’s Office of Accountability has launched an internal investigation.
It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the death of K-9 Ozzy – [End of Watch]: 07/08/2020. The 6-year-old German Shepard suffered a heart attack during a dental cleaning. K-9 Ozzy had been partners with Officer Ben Bradley since 2014.
“Ozzy was a loving, loyal, and brave member of the Bellevue Police Department. At 110 pounds, he was a force to be reckoned with,” said Sgt. Robin Peacey. “He was also a loveable goofball, seeking attention from those he loved, and he did silly things to get it.”
Ozzie was brought over from Slovakia and quickly learned police work. His first successful track netted three suspects detained for possession of a stolen vehicle in Newport Hills. He honorably served the Bellevue community for five years.
“We lost an officer, a brother, and a member of our family,” said Chief Steve Mylett. “Ozzy will be missed, and our prayers are with Officer Bradley, his family, and our entire K-9 family as they go through this difficult time.”

Police arrived to find a female in crisis. She was transported to the hospital.
Bellevue police have arrested 23 people connected with the looting and destruction in downtown Bellevue and have recovered more than $50,000 in merchandise. Detectives have also identified nearly a hundred other suspects and are continuing those investigations.
The arrests stem from the riots in Bellevue on May 31, 2020. “That evening, we saw a coordinated attack on Bellevue businesses. The criminals exploited protests over George Floyd’s homicide and used it as an opportunity to loot and destroy businesses,” Chief Steve Mylett said.
“Bellevue has seen many peaceful protests since Mr. Floyd’s death, and we welcome them all. But the criminals who engaged in the violence are on notice; they won’t get away with it. We have dedicated extensive resources to investigate these crimes and will take as long as necessary to identify and arrest those responsible. I cannot emphasize it enough, the criminal behavior leading to these arrests has absolutely nothing to do with people raising their voices in opposition to Mr. Floyd’s death or demands to end systemic racism,” the Chief added.
Last Friday, Bellevue police served a warrant on a looting suspect in Renton. A 26-year-old man, seen driving the red truck in the video, was arrested on charges of Burglary 2nd, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Dangerous Weapons. Investigators recovered $19,000 worth of suspected stolen merchandise, alcohol, and tobacco products. Detectives also confiscated an AK-47, a 10 mm Glock, stockpiles of ammunition, drugs, and cash.

Chief Mylett continued, “We are just beginning to make arrests in these cases. The public has shared at least 10-thousand pieces of video and photographic evidence of the looting and violence. The public’s assistance has been a tremendous help. We will continue to work with our regional and federal partners to hold these individuals accountable.”

INCIDENT/CASE#
20-25945
NARRATIVE
A female caused multiple issues at the hotel throughout the day. She refused to leave when the staff requested her to do so, so PD was contacted. The subject continued to present problematic behavior once officers arrived and refused to leave, so she was removed for trespassing and taken to jail.
Today, the Bellevue Police Department received a communication from the driver depicted in the arrest on December 23, 2018. She provided documentation that she contacted the police department on February 28, 2019, requesting documents and contact with the Chief of Police. The Chief’s administrative staff interpreted the email as a public records request for documents and, per protocol, routed it to the Bellevue City Clerk’s Office. In March 2019, the documents were delivered, and the request was closed.
Due to the interpretation of the driver’s email, that it was a request for documents, Chief Mylett was unaware that she wanted to speak with him.
“This issue came to my attention earlier today and did not show up in our initial review of documents yesterday. I sincerely regret there was a misinterpretation in the processing of this request from the individual in the video. As I’ve said all along, we take incidents involving an officer using force, very seriously. My department is firmly committed to transparency and serving everyone in our community.”
At the scene of the arrest on December 23, 2018, officers asked the driver to provide a statement, and she refused. A bystander filed a complaint, and the department thoroughly reviewed the incident.
In full transparency, BPD is making all records available.
The public records request documents can be found here.
